There’s a mocktail movement afoot. Whether it’s a heightened awareness of the health risks of excess alcohol consumption or a movement towards a more inclusive drinking culture, creative and tasty non-alcoholic beverages are increasingly popping up on restaurant drink menus and being served at bars and private parties.

Planning a backyard BBQ? Try one of these fabulous thirst-quenching mocktails? They are sure to please even the most discerning of party guests.

Frozen Kombucha Margarita

• 250mL kombucha tea
• 2mL teaspoon freshly grated ginger
• 60mL cup fresh lime juice
• 250mL ice
• 250mL all natural coconut water
• Lime slices to garnish

Combine all ingredients and blend to an icy consistency. Garnish with a lime. Serves 2.

Watermelon Lime Cooler

• 500mL frozen watermelon chunks
• 30mL maple syrup (optional)
• 250mL chilled coconut water
• Juice of 1 lime

Combine all ingredients and blend until smooth. Serve immediately. Serves 2.
